BAZAAR ITEMS

Small and quick things to whip up for the Church Bazaar. Also good as teachers or multiple gifts when needed.

SPOON WALL HANGING
Glue dried or silk flowers in bowl of wooden spoon. Tie ribbon or calico fabric around handle. Drill hole at top of handle, thread with ribbon creating loop for hanging. Makes pretty wall hanging. Sell for $1.50
MINI JEWELRY BOX
To make a pretty container for rings or a watch, remove the lid and label from a 6.5 ounce tuna fish can. Wash and dry can thoroughly, line inside with a piece of silk or satin-like fabric, glue strip of velvet or satin around outside. Use sequins, lace of pearls from an old string to decorate. Keep container in kitchen to keep rings or watches from getting wet. Sell for $5.00.
DOLL BUTTONS
With paper punch, punch holes in plastic detergent or shampoo bottle. Pierce holes in "buttons" with hot needle held with needlenose pliers over flame. Sew six buttons on a card, add a colorful sticker. Sell for $.50 a card.
CAT TOY
Sew two 2-inch heart shapes together two-thirds around. Turn right side out and stuff with catnip. Finish sewing to close, add a bow and a string or piece of yarn about 2 feet long. Sell for $1.00.
POT HOLDER PANEL
Sand a 7 x 10 inch scrap of plywood until smooth. Mark inside border 1 inch from outer edge and divide in 3 equal sections. Stencil, paint or decoupage a design in each of the 3 sections. When dry, cover entire board with a thin coat of waterproof varnish. Allow to dry, then place a hook in each of the 3 sections. Sell for $5.00.
STUFFED ANIMAL POLE
Go to a carpet store and request a cardboard carpet pole (many stores will give them away). Cover it with contact paper. Insert screw coffee cup hooks at evenly spaced intervals around plastic pole. Cut pole height of room so it will stand alone. Hang your favorite stuffed animals from hooks with ribbon or rubber bands. Sell for $5.00.
TOOTH HOLDER
From white felt cut two tooth shapes, approximately 3 x 2-3/4 inches each. On one embroider eyes, nose and mouth with floss. Use three French knots for each eye, stem stitch for nose and mouth. Use red floss and blanket stitch to stitch sides together. Leave top open but continue to blanket stitch top of front piece. Keeps child's tooth safe while he awaits the tooth fairy. Sell for $1.00.
GRANDMA'S PADDLE STICK
Cut two identical heart shapes, about 5 inches high, from scrap material. Sew ruffled lace to wrong side of one heart. With wrong sides facing, sew hears together, leaving 1/2 inch open on either side of point at bottom. Turn right side out and stuff with cotton. Paint or stain a paint stirring paddle. When dry, insert in opening at bottom of heart and glue in place. Sell for $5.00.
PINE CONE FIRE STARTERS
Melt down candles and stubs, ladle melted wax into paper baking cups filled with sawdust. Press pine cones into wax. Make excellent fire starts in fireplaces. Place several in basket tied with bow. Sell for $7.00.
PLASTIC CANVAS BOOKMARK
Cut cross from plastic canvas, 14 mesh long, 9 mesh in width, with each arm 3 mesh wide. Whipstitch with yarn around border and fill in with continental stitch. Draw several lengths of yarn through bottom for tail. Sell for $2.00.
FASHION DOLL SKIRT
This is a fast and fashionable crocheted skirt. Use 2 shades baby yarn, a size C crochet hook and a 1-1/2 inch diameter rubberband for waistband.
Rnd 1: With MC work 24 sc around rubberband, join with sl st, ch2.
Rnd 2: Work dc in each sc around, join, ch2.
Rnds 3, 4: (Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc) around, join, ch2.
Rnds 5 through 9: Dc in each dc around, join, ch2. At end of Rnd 9, do not ch2, fasten off MC.
Rnd 10: Join CC, sc in each dc around, join, ch 1.
Rnd 11: Sc in each sc around, join, fasten off. Sell for $1.50.
CLOTHESPIN BOOKMARK
Glue a popsicle stick to one side of the grip in a clothespin, allow to dry. Paint or decorate book mark as desired. These are especially handy for following crochet and knitting patterns which require line by line following. Also great for following a recipe. Sell for $1.00 or 3 for $2.00.
BUTTERFLY MAGNET
Make a crocheted butterfly magnet to hold papers and pictures on the refrigerator. With size I hook and worsted weight yarn, ch 12, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 3 dc in ring, *ch 2, 4 dc, repeat from * 6 times - 8 (ch 2, 4 dc) groups. Ch 2, join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Sl st to first ch-2 sp, ch 3,(2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next sp, repeat from * around, join, ch 2. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Join second color in last sl st, ch 1, *10 dc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next sp, repeat from * around, join. Fasten off. Fold in half and fasten with pipe cleaner in center. Glue magnet to back. Sell for $2.50.
